Mariana Castro

Mariana Castro (b. 1986, Portugal). Graduated in Cinema (ESTC, Lisbon), Master in Philosophy, Aesthetics (FCSH) with the advisor professor Maria Filomena Molder. Currently developing research in Photography associated with the Communication and Languages Studies Center (CECL) at the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences, New University of Lisbon, and with the Visual and Environmental Studies Department at Harvard University. Director of award-winning short films, her photographic film “Encontro” was awarded and exhibited in Lisbon, New York, Hanover and Vienna. With “Encontro” she was invited to the International Conference on Photography & Film “50 years of Chris Marker’s La Jetée” by FCSH. Exhibiting photographic work since 2010, she was distinguished by her last photographic series “Interiors” with the 1st Prize of the NOVA Photography 2014, UNL and invited to jury the contest.
